Move someone to new list based on tagging

I’ve been asking for this for years (I even paid aw pro tools extra money to have this - but now they’re broken so I’m begging you again)

When someone opts in to a list - let’s call it “List A”, I’m sending them a automatic follow-up campaign.

When that sequence is completed, I add a tag “done with list A campaign”

When that tag is added, I would like to automatically unsubscribe them from “List A” and move them to “List B” -

This allows me to easily send broadcasts messages only to “List B” without interrupting the follow-up sequence people are receiving for “List A” -

Conversely - another way this might be done is…
Person opts-in to list a
follow-up sequence goes out
Tag applied at the end
When I go to email (broadcast) “List A” I can check a box that allows me to include/exclude people that do or do not have a certain tag on that list

Hi Devon,

Thank you for providing this feedback!

AWeber actually already has the functionality you’re requesting, it just requires setting up your workflow a bit differently.

Rather than managing your subscribers within separate lists, you can merge your lists and maintain your subscribers within one list using tags and segments.

You can have multiple Campaigns, tags, and segments within the same list. Here are some of the things this allows you to accomplish:

Here are some additional resources to help with maintaining subscribers within one list:

Since this is functionality that is already available within AWeber, I’ve moved this discussion to the “Ask a Question” category.

Another way to think about this using your terminology Devon…

Rather than moving people around to different “lists”, use tags.

  • When your “ListA” sequence is done, have the campaign add a tag “ListB”.
  • When you send broadcasts, just send to the “ListB” segment.

You don’t need to move people around to different lists. Segments are lists within lists and a whole lot less complicated. Fewer moving parts means fewer things to go sideways or understand.

Less is usually more.
