Move subscribers to a new list (and unsubscribing from the old list)

Hi, I used AWProtools to bounce subscribers from list to list and it worked until they stopped supporting the tool.

I use ThriveThemes, which allows me to create Opt-ins that subscribe to AWeber lists perfectly.

Here is what I need.

Let’s say I have three lists based on different categories; let’s say drinks. List 1 is soda, List 2 is alcohol, List 3 is water. I’m just making this up for simplicity.

On a landing page, I have three different opt-ins, each of which ultimately leads to List 1. Opt-in A, Opt-in B, Opt-in C are all soda related tips. When someone subscribes, they receive a unique email for whatever Opt-in they sign up for. Then, they end up on List 1.

With AWProtools, I created a unique list for Opt-in A, Opt-in B, and Opt-in C. When the last message was reached on a list, I’d tag them, and then they’d subscribe to List 1 and unsubscribe from whatever list they were on (Opt-in A, B, or C).

Additionally, if they went through List 1 without making a purchase, I would have List Z (another example) to re-engage them and try to get them to opt-in to List 2 or 3 above. So, they would receive a tag at the end of List 1 and subscribe to List Z, while unsubscribing from List 1.

This worked perfectly, but now AWProtools doesn’t seem to support Aweber anymore.

Looking at your automation with tags, it doesn’t appear to support this.

What are my options when someone reaches the end of list? For example, a visitor signs up for the list for Opt-in A. How do I get them to List 1?

I see “exit list” in the message tool. Does that remove them from a workflow or unsubscribe them?

Hi Chris!

Instead of using multiple lists, I’d recommend keeping your subscribers on one list. That way, you can segment them and move them from one segment or workflow to another more easily.

If you have landing pages for A, B, and C, you can tag subscribers based on the form they used to sign up. That tag can then trigger a specific workflow. You can also create a split path within a workflow to send people down different paths depending on whether they have a certain tag or not.

If someone makes a purchase, you can set up an exit rule so they are removed from that workflow once they get a tag. That same tag can also be used to move them into a different workflow.

If you want to send a Broadcast to subscribers who finish a workflow, just add a tag action at the end of the workflow. You can then create a segment based on that tag. When you send your Broadcast, choose that segment. Segments are dynamic so as more subscribers finish the series and are tagged, they’ll join the segment automatically.

If you want us to take a look at a specific workflow you already have set up, feel free to contact us. We would be happy to help.

Got it. I figured it out and it’s working. Totally changes how I set up my lists, but I can do this and see how it goes. Makes sense!

Thanks for your answer.
