Is this even possible?

I created a segment of subscribers who haven’t opened any emails since subscribing. I tagged the segment. I reached out via facebook messenger to a few who haven’t. This morning someone said she opens all emails YET my broadcast status for this member shows only the most recent (as of yesterday) was opened but after I sent her a screenshot showing it was not opened. Is it even possible to open the email and not be updated in broadcast dashboard?

Yes, it’s possible someone opened an email and it was not tracked.

Whether someone “opens” an email is determined based on that user loading images in their email client. It’s entirely possible that the user has images disabled in their emails and are thus not detected as opening any of your emails. Opens are a guide, they are not the end all be all of all situations that might impact tracking. There will always be outliers.

It’s also possible the user, whom you seem to know, told you they were opening your messages, when in fact they were not. There’s a social norm aspect to things like that where you might not be getting honest answers from people who might feel guilty for not opening messages when you personally called them out on it.
