Introduce Yourself to the Community!

Welcome in Carol and everyone joining us! We’re happy to have you and get you involved in conversations.

Please let us know if you have any questions!

Hi everyone!

I’m Lili, and I run Lilidiomas, where I teach Portuguese, English, and Spanish for commerce and business. My mission is to help professionals feel confident and capable when using languages in international work settings.

A recent win for me was launching a short course on meeting colleagues in Portuguese, which is being used as a lead magnet to grow my list. :rocket:

What brings me the most joy in my business is seeing my students go from nervous to empowered—especially when they tell me they used what they learned in a real meeting or negotiation.

One big lesson I’ve learned is: keep it simple and clear. People don’t want perfection—they want connection. So I stopped overthinking and started sharing my message more naturally, and it’s made a big difference.

A random fact about me: I always wear my sunglasses when I leave the house since a hilarious mix-up on a beach trip, and I love collecting little language-learning anecdotes from around the world!

Looking forward to learning from all of you and contributing to this community! :speech_balloon::globe_showing_europe_africa:

Hola Lili, Welcome in - teaching languages for professional settings is an awesome business!
I 1000% agree with your big lesson takeaway; fostering a genuine connection with folks is such an important part of being a business owner. That’s the exact purpose of this space. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Thanks for introducing yourself!

Hello!
I’m Pam Johnson Brickell, living in the lowcountry of South Carolina.

From my heart I’m an artist, solopreneur and keeper of illustrated journals. I love to teach and inspire folks to keep their own journals. My focus is nature based journals. An occasional urban scene will slip in, but sketching architecture just doesn’t have the same eye candy draw for me.
My most recent win is migrating my newsletter subscriber list over to AWeber.

  1. What part of being a business owner (or promoter) brings you the most joy?
See a student’s face light up when they realize they can sketch.

  2. What’s the one thing you’ve learned that you would share with a new or aspiring business owner?
Be consistent with your efforts. Follow your heart and be true to your passion. It’s not an easy route to stay up and positive when you don’t see results from your efforts immediately. But stick around and keep on track. Tweak your process when needed. Be open to the smallest spark of an idea. Most of all, give yourself grace.

  3. Share one random fact about yourself
I’m in the process of setting up an Etsy store to offer my nature watercolor sketches on tea towels, garden flags and tote bags to start.
