It’s so hard to say goodbye… especially to your subscribers. Before scrubbing them away, I suggest you give re-engagement a shot?
A re-engagement campaign gives your audience one last chance to interact with your content. After that, it’s time to let those inactive subscribers go. Regularly clearing them out (every 3-6 months) helps you focus on the subscribers that matter most - those who engage. A lead that doesn’t read, is not really a lead.
There are a couple of options for running these campaigns: you can send a single re-engagement message as a Broadcast or set up a multi-message Campaign Automation - Choose what fits your workflow best.
One thing I find most useful when running a re-engagement campaign is to offer something to really incentivize opening the message, like a special coupon or freebie offer. That will help the message stand out more than the typical messages that might have gone unnoticed.
I always recommend including preview text for re-engagement campaigns. This will be one of the first things that they see and it can encourage your subscribers to open and engage.
We also have great examples of re-engagement emails in this blog post!
Hey Kervin_JB,
How do I get started with the re-engagement campaign?
I would like to consolidate all the old list into a single list. How do I move subscribers from one list to another? Do I add tags them before I move them so that a re-engagement campaign would trigger on “add”.
Hey Deanna! To merge lists, you would want to export the subscribers from the list you are moving from and import into the list you want to move them into. Make sure when you are exporting subscribers, you are only exporting active subscribers and not all of the subscribers as this can include unsubscribes.
If you have a re-engagement campaign set up in the list you are moving them into, you would want to have that triggered on a tag so that when you add the subscribers to the list, you can tag them as you move them and they will then be placed in that Campaign.
