What message editor should you use to design an email?

AWeber offers three different methods for building your emails. I’ll go over each of the options and reasons you may want to use one over the other. Oh, should you have any questions about creating these messages, ask below and we can help!

Plain Text: The Plain Text editor is exactly that - an editor for emails that will only contain text. You can’t add images, mask links, or use email templates in a plain text message. While there may be some instances where a plain text message is appropriate - such as a quick note to an acquaintance, in most circumstances you’ll want to use the HTML or Drag and Drop editors to create and send branded messages. Especially, considering how valuable engagement data is. With plain text messages you can’t track opens unless you have a link in the message - and as mentioned above. The full link will always show in your message and you cannot change font or font colors.

HTML: The HTML editor is for someone who is knowledgeable in HTML code and well versed in email styling. You would use this option if you are looking to completely customize every aspect of your message and only if you feel comfortable working within the code.

Drag and Drop: This is - by far - the most popular message editor! Within the Drag and Drop editor, you can choose from premade email templates in our extensive library and customize any to fully fit your brand. You can upload images directly into the message, choose from stock images, or you can use Canva to create graphics and add them directly into your message! The Drag and Drop editor also allows you to customize your font and change any of the colors used in the email elements. Additionally, you can add videos, social media buttons, coupons, and much more. If you’ve used the Landing Page builder you’ll notice that it looks similar to the Drag and Drop editor.

You can also send simple text messages in the Drag and Drop editor. Making a message with just text in this editor will ensure you can track engagement with your email, as well as give you options to make the email your own. You can mimic the plain text feel, with more options for customization.
