You’ve started on your email marketing journey and you are getting people to open and engage with your emails, but how do you read the stats you’re seeing?
Email analytics give you a glance of how subscribers are interacting with your emails and may even give you indicators of what you need to change to help boost that interaction.
We’re going to go over the various stats you’ll see for your emails and what exactly those mean.
Opens: This is the amount of times the email itself has been opened. At a glance you’ll see total opens for your email (if people open the email multiple times it will show as multiple opens), but if you go further into the stats you’ll also be able to see unique opens. Keep in mind that opens can vary due to the type of email the message is being received to. You want to aim for an open rate of above 10%.
Clicks: This is the amount of times someone has clicked a link (s) in your emails. You’ll be able to see the total amount of clicks on your links, as well as unique clicks.
Sales: This is the amount of sales that were generated from the email(s) you sent. Sales can be tracked in emails if you set up web analytics or are using a support integration such as Paypal or Stripe for example.
Bounces: This is the amount of email addresses that could not have the email you sent to them delivered. This could be due to a variety of reasons such as their inbox being fully or an invalid email address. We will automatically unsubscribe an email address if it continues to bounce for a period of time or is an invalid email address. You want to regularly remove your bounces as this can impact your sending reputation and filtering of emails.
