How to Address Email Bounces in Your Digital Marketing Strategy

When you see bounces in your Broadcast or Campaign stats, this means there’s been an issue delivering emails to your subscribers. This can happen for a few reasons:

  • Their inbox is full
  • The email address they provided is no longer valid
  • The host for their email address is having a temporary issue receiving emails

Consistently high bounce rates can hurt your email deliverability, so it’s crucial to keep an eye on your bounces. Regularly checking and addressing these will help you manage your list effectively and prevent long-term issues!

If you see your bounce rates are regularly above 2%, then it would be best to look into removing your inactive subscribers. This includes those who aren’t engaging because they no longer have a valid email address.

You should only remove bounced emails if they consistently bounce. For example, if a subscriber bounces once but remains subscribed, it’s a temporary issue and they’ll still receive future emails. However, if the bouncing continues on an ongoing basis, they’ll eventually be automatically unsubscribed from your lists.
