How does the set up of an email list work? I want to know the process from start to finish!

Let’s go over the flow of things, so you know exactly what happens when you set up your email list and someone joins your list! You can even go through the process yourself by signing up to your own list—it’s the best way to experience it like a subscriber :slightly_smiling_face:.

  1. First, you’ll need to create a sign-up form or landing page. Subscribers need an entry way into your list. They’ll read about what you’re offering, and can fill out the form to join.

  2. Publish your landing page or share your sign up form. An easy way to do this is through your social media channels, especially if you don’t have a website.

  3. Congrats, meet your new subscriber :tada:! You’ll get an email notification to let you know whenever someone joins your list. Now’s your chance to start connecting with them immediately. Don’t leave them in silence —keep the conversation going so your list stays active.

  4. If you have a Campaign series, this will start sending to subscribers as soon as they join your list. If you don’t have one yet, now’s a great time to get one set up! Not sure what to send next? Your Campaign will help start building engagement while you figure out more of your content.

This is just a basic flow, and it can change depending on how many messages you have or if someone’s making a purchase first. What’s your current flow? No matter your setup, if you run into any issues or need help talking out your process, let’s talk about it!

You should definitely set up at least a 1 message welcome message to introduce yourself to your new subscriber and get them to engage with you early on.

You can use these messages to give people incentives (like a coupon) to buy from you, promote your most popular content, or ask new subscribers a question to start a conversation with you.

This also gets them familiar with the idea that they’ll be getting valuable, interesting messages from you.

Hey Teresa, welcome in! You are more than welcome to reach out to our Customer Solutions team so we can take a look at your account and go over things with you and see your set up. If you have specific questions, let us know!

I have a draft of a landing page, but when I try to share it with my reader, they don’t see it, they get a “Log in to Aweber” page. The same with the email sign up form. Sometimes the link I send out, opens up to show my own dashboard. I also tried this with a preview of a landing page, same result

Hey Brian! You need to publish the landing page live for it to be visible to people visiting it outside of AWeber. You can’t share a landing page while it is in Draft mode.

For the sign up form, you need to share the link to the form that is available on the Publish page. You would select the Use My Form As a Landing Page option.

Otherwise if people visit the page it will prompt them to log into an AWeber account. Let us know if you have any other questions!
