Do I Have to Show My Physical Address in Email Footers?

If you didn’t know, you need to have a physical address at the bottom of your emails. This is required by the CAN-SPAM Act. This physical address requirement keeps spammers at bay and cuts down on unwanted emails in our inboxes.

The U.S. anti-spam law, CAN-SPAM, came into action in 2003, and it set up several rules for sending emails, which include a physical address at the bottom of your emails.

Don’t worry if you’re not keen on using your home address; there are some other options! Here are a few alternatives:

  1. Use a PO Box: If you’ve already got one, you can use it instead of your physical address.
  2. Get a physical mailing address through an address service: There are tons of companies that offer this, but prices can vary, so shop around!
  3. Use a business partner’s address: As long as they’ve given permission and you can receive your mail from them, you can use their address.
  4. Go for a virtual mailbox: A lot of companies offer this option, but keep in mind you might not be able to get packages sent to that address depending on the service you choose.

You’ve got options if you want to keep your personal address under wraps. Have more questions about the Can-Spam act or address services? Ask away :mega:!
