Hello! So I am just now working on building a website for email marketing and whatever else I will be an affiliate for. I have been told the biggest reason companies may decline an application for being part of their affiliate program is an ugly or otherwise unappealing website. So I am TERRIFIED I will get denied by most or all companies because of this. I am probably going to go further into debt to pay someone to build my website for me and (hopefully) make it visually appealing with complementary colors and so forth, but I recognize there are no guarantees. So with that being said, if Aweber (who will be my first application once my website is up and running) and other companies decline my application, will they typically share what needs to change so that I can fix it and reapply?
Thanks so much for any assistance or advice you can offer. I’m so stressed about this!

Generally, you won’t get a reason for being declined to an affiliate program. There is such a broad spectrum of acceptance criteria between all the different programs out there.
You don’t need a huge, cutting edge web presence. A decent single-page site built around the niche for which you wish to promote is often enough. Sometimes there is a questionnaire during the application process - they are looking to gain insights into how you are going to promote. Answer honestly, since these questions are largely used to weed out spammers. If you’re new and have a new landing page or site set up, let them know. Reputable platforms desire to form a relationship with their affiliates, not just provide a link and send you on your merry way.
