Brand new spam opt-ins using real name & phone from bogus, random IP address - not triggering Captcha

There is a brand new spam practice happening that just started a few days ago where real email addresses and phone numbers are being submitted into my form on my WordPress site from random IP addresses that give a Geo location different from the area code. Because the IP addresses vary your capcha is not being triggered. Is there a way to turn your captcha on all the time instead of only if repetitive inputs are made from a particular IP address?

Otherwise, I have to purchase a form builder Plugin and pay extra for that form builder to connect an integration with a Weber. I’d have to rebuild all my forms and stop using AWeber forms.

If you guys can make this one simple change that may combat this brand new threat.

Hi Sam,

Thanks for providing this feedback!

If you’re receiving spam submissions, it’s recommended to enable the confirmation message on your list. If a spambot attempts to sign up to your list, the confirmation message will most likely bounce and they will be unsubscribed immediately. If the email address is still valid, but inactive, then they won’t ever click the link to confirm. Any subscribers who do not confirm will remain in “Pending” status and will be automatically deleted after 30 days. If you decide to enable confirmation for your list, you can customize the confirmation message to include details about your content and what subscribers can expect from your list.

For more context on steps you can take to prevent unwanted bot sign ups, take a look at this community post that breaks this down in further detail.

Captcha forms are enabled for all AWeber sign up forms, but I’ve shared your feedback with the team to be able to enable those forms for all submissions on a form to prevent this type of unwanted sign up. We’re actively tracking interest in this feature. This thread will remain open so that other members of the community can add their input.
